About Us

John Patterson serves as Vice President of Construction at Postler & Jaeckle, where he oversees the company’s Design Build and CAD departments, as well as the Wegmans Group and sheet metal operations. Beginning his career in 1986 with a pre-apprenticeship through the Local 46 Sheet Metal Workers Union, John earned his Journeyman status in 1991 and joined Postler & Jaeckle shortly thereafter. Over the decades, he has built a distinguished career, transitioning to his leadership role in 2016. Among his many accomplishments, John has played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s sheet metal operations through Northern Fabricator, modernizing its state-of-the-art sheet metal shop, and enhancing field supervision to improve efficiency and quality.

A dedicated mentor, John actively supports the development of journeypersons and apprentices, fostering the next generation of skilled professionals. His industry contributions also include representing SMART apprentices at regional and national competitions and serving as Chairman of the Local 46 Health Fund for Contractors and as Contractor Trustee for the Local 46 Pension Fund.

When he’s not managing large-scale construction projects, John can be found actively participating in Sons of the American Legion, Spencerport chapter, drag racing, building and restoring classic cars, golfing, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Ryan plays a vital part in managing and updating daily bid lists, ensuring comprehensive coverage of both the Fabrication and Mechanical sides of P&J’s business. He collaborates closely with the Estimating Manager to ensure accurate and timely estimates, reviews bid lists, and performs job release/takeoff verifications for jobs with purchase orders. He also compares bid day prices with job close-out prices to ensure accuracy and maintain project forecasting. Additionally, Ryan is responsible for verifying raw material costs, conducting pre-bid reviews, and performing job takeoffs using the Auto Bid program. His consistent follow-up with customers post-bid and ongoing efforts to nurture customer relationships help improve feedback loops and streamline future bidding processes. Ryan’s focus on project forecasting and estimating helps ensure that the business remains aligned with both current and future project needs.

Matt is a seasoned mechanical estimator with over a decade of hands-on experience in HVAC installation, service, underground plumbing, and warehouse operations. Drawing from this well-rounded field background, he brings a practical and detail-oriented approach to estimating, ensuring accurate and competitive bids that align with project goals and client expectations. His role centers on reviewing project documents to define scope, performing precise quantity takeoffs, and developing comprehensive cost estimates. Matt also plays a key role in coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, contributing to value engineering efforts, and supporting internal teams through collaborative reviews and clear reporting. Matt’s commitment to quality and thoroughness supports successful project outcomes and strengthens client and team confidence throughout the preconstruction process.

As a Sheet Metal Project Estimator with two years of experience, Bobby plays a key role in supporting successful project bids by generating accurate takeoffs and detailed cost proposals using Autobid. His expertise in analyzing blueprints and collaborating closely with the estimating team ensures precision in estimating HVAC and sheet metal scopes, contributing directly to the competitiveness and reliability of bid submissions.

Kristen has progressed from a shipping and receiving logistics coordinator to a Fabrication Programmer and Purchasing Assistant. Her role includes a variety of key responsibilities, such as inputting ductwork into systems, communicating with customers about their orders and takeoffs, managing vendor relationships for pricing and orders, and coordinating delivery schedules. Kristin’s ability to adapt and acquire new skills has enabled her to take on increasing responsibilities and contribute significantly to the efficiency of operations and customer satisfaction.

Jaime has played a pivotal role in overseeing operations at Northern Fabricators. With a strong background in the Sheet Metal/Manufacturing industry, she manages critical areas such as budgeting, accounts receivable, purchasing, customer relationships, and inventory management. In addition to her operational oversight, Jaime handles complex billing tasks, including AIA, lump sum, and time and materials (T&M) billing, while also managing cash flow and filing sales tax for multiple states. Her expanded responsibilities reflect a deep commitment to the company's success and growth, contributing significantly to both day-to-day operations and strategic financial management.

With nearly 25 years of experience in the sheet metal industry, Shawn is highly motivated and performance-driven, bringing a wealth of expertise to his leadership role. Known for excellent communication and organizational skills, he fosters a collaborative team environment that enhances productivity and drives project success. Shawn’s vast experience and dedication make them a valuable asset in leading and supporting teams across the organization.

Steve began his career at P&J in 1988 as a pre-apprentice in the sheet metal trade, quickly advancing into a five-year apprenticeship that provided hands-on experience both in the field and in the fabrication shop. Over time, he developed deep expertise across all fabrication roles, which led to his appointment as floor foreman. Today, as the Sheet Metal Shop Manager, Steve draws on decades of experience to oversee shop operations, guide team members, and ensure the quality and efficiency of production. His long-standing commitment and progression within the company reflect both their technical skill and leadership in supporting P&J’s fabrication success.

As Head of the Custom Fabrication and Welding Department, Jason plays a critical role in overseeing specialized fabrication projects from concept to completion. His responsibilities include conducting on-site visits with customers to assess project needs, ensuring custom solutions are aligned with client expectations. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, Jason assists the Shop Superintendent with workflow coordination and is actively involved in training new fabricators, helping to maintain high workmanship standards and support long-term team development. His leadership directly contributes to project efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

John leads the Pre-Fabrication Department, ensuring components are built to spec and delivered on time to support downstream production. He assists with quality control to uphold Northern Fabricators’ standards and work closely with the Shop Superintendent and Shop Foreman to help delegate workflow efficiently. Additionally, John assigns tasks to apprentices, supporting both daily operations and ongoing workforce development. His leadership helps drive productivity, accuracy, and team coordination across the shop.

Tony oversees the Round Department, ensuring production runs efficiently and meets Northern Fabricators’ quality standards. He plays a key role in training new apprentices, helping to build a skilled and reliable workforce. Additionally, Tony supports quality control efforts and assist with overall workflow coordination, contributing to consistent output and project reliability across the shop.

Jeremy plays a key support role across multiple departments, with primary responsibility for overseeing operations in the Spiral Department. He contributes to overall shop efficiency by assisting in the Round, Pre-Fab, and Hammer Up departments as needed, helping to maintain consistent workflow and meet production timelines. Jeremy’s adaptability and cross-functional support are essential to keeping projects on track and ensuring high-quality output across teams.

Richard plays a vital role in maintaining operational efficiency by servicing and maintaining machinery both in the shop and in the field. His prompt and effective troubleshooting ensures minimal downtime, keeping equipment running smoothly and supporting uninterrupted project progress. In addition to technical responsibilities, he manages the organization of tools, parts, and supplies—helping maintain a well-ordered work environment that supports productivity and readiness across teams.

Mike leads the Hammer-Up Department, ensuring assemblies are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, he assists with quality control to help maintain Northern Fabricators’ high standards across all phases of production. Mike’s involvement in training new apprentices also supports workforce development and helps strengthen team capabilities for long-term success.

Scott is integral to Northern Fabricators shipping and receiving operations. He manages the receipt and accurate storage of raw materials, fabricated components, and finished products, ensuring all items are handled with care to prevent damage. His expertise in identifying and organizing various types of pipes and sheet metal components supports inventory accuracy and facilitates efficient production workflows. Jim is also responsible for sealing and wrapping fabricated products for delivery, applying appropriate packaging techniques to protect metal surfaces from corrosion, scratches, and other transit-related damage. His careful preparation of shipments ensures that fabricated materials arrive on-site in optimal condition, supporting project timelines and maintaining Northern Fabricators reputation for quality and reliability in fabrication and delivery.

David is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting materials between locations, ensuring all items are handled with care throughout the process. He maintains clear communication with both customers and the home office to support smooth operations and timely deliveries.

By consistently driving in a legal and professional manner, David upholds Northern Fabricators’ reputation for reliability and service excellence. His focus on safety, communication, and careful handling directly contributes to successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

Jim supports project success through a combination of shipping, receiving, and material handling responsibilities. He plays a key role in ensuring that materials are accurately received, properly stored, and efficiently loaded for delivery. As a truck driver, Jim is also responsible for transporting materials to job sites or other locations, making sure deliveries are timely and secure. His reliability and attention to detail help maintain steady project flow and contribute to Northern Fabricators’ commitment to operational excellence.
